On December 3, 2024, the Acceptance Protocol for Part 2 of the Civil Electrical Installation Project, was signed. This marked the final transfer of the Work for permanent use encompassing the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the electrical components for the nuclear island of Unit 4 of Mochovce NPP, thus completing the entire Civil Electrical Installation Project at both Units 3 and 4.
This time-intensive and resource-demanding project, along with completing the technological part of Units 3 and 4, was one of the longest and most extensive in the electrical domain that our company has ever undertaken.
Project in Numbers
7
individual structures within the Nuclear Island, where works were completed
155 km
of cables laid in primary cable routes (with cross-sections ranging from 1.5 mm to 240 mm)
110 km
of secondary cables installed, including secondary cable route development
193
of delivered, installed and tested switchboards, welding boxes
7426
installed lighting fixtures, including 1906 within the hermetic zone in the main reactor building
1200
tested circuits for working, backup and emergency lighting
We implemented lightning protection and grounding systems across all Nuclear Island structures. At its peak, the project involved 80-100 installation workers, 15 management staff (test engineers, inspection engineers, and site managers), and 8-10 designers responsible for lighting, lightning protection, lighting calculations, seismic studies, construction details, and site supervision.
Over nearly 14 years of execution, we encountered numerous challenges and demanding situations, including a change of the contracting authority, shifts in the supplier structure, and overcoming various technical requirements and obstacles inherent in projects of this scale.
With immense satisfaction, we proudly state that the civil electrical installation project is completed! Thanks to all our employees and partners who contributed over the years. You persevered and stayed committed to the goal even in the toughest moments.
